Audio Technica A500 Headphones Review

It’s arguably said that headphones are the best device to use for gaming, as they provide intimate details that regular computer speakers can’t provide. With that in mind, the Audio Technica ATH-A500 headphones are superb for gaming, as well for other multimedia uses such as listening to music or watching DVD movies. I’ve posted a review in the foogaming forums, complete with pictures, of these headphones, detailing my thoughts after over 2 weeks of jamming to reggae, blasting foes online, and replaying the best explosions from Die Hard 2 over and over again.

Paired with the Headroom Total Airhead headphone amp, it has made my listening experience better than I ever dreamed of.

My old earphones, Shure E2c, gave up the ghost after 2 years of extensive use. It served me well, but I want headphones that actually last. So thus my research on the net brought me to the purchase of the Audio Technica ATH-A500, which is only made in Japan. Word is that it is great for gaming, having a soundstage that is great for closed circumaural headphones. Along with the headphones, I also invested in the Headroom Total Airhead headphone amp.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Review

We have our review up of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, the much talked about role-playing game from Bethesda, and it is a beauty of a game. Not only does it look good, but it is insanely fun, immersive, and improves upon Morrowind greatly. It is already in the running for Game of the Year awards. Here’s a sample from the review:

Combat, unlike in Morrowind, is visceral and frenetic. Blows connect, tendons scream when your blow glances off a shield, and if that wasn’t enough, your enemy will taunt you if he feels confident he’s going to best you. Magic combat is rich and varied, there’s nothing more gratifying than seeing an enemy go down in a flurry of flames, or keel over after being frozen to death from a frost spell. A particular foe giving you a hard time? Bring out a shield spell, suck out his fatigue, even push him over the edge of a cliff if you have to. The options you have in any given fight are near limitless, only limited by your own imagination. Intelligence plays a factor with fights in Oblivion.

Auto Assault Beta Impressions

After having tried out the Auto Assault beta for the weekend, I’ve wrote up my impressions of the game. Auto Assault is a massively multiplayer online racing game from NetDevil and NCSoft, and is currently in beta testing.

Vehical destruction has always had a home on the PC; from Destruction Derby, to Interstate 76, and the king of them all, Carmegeddon. Now NCSoft brings to you Auto Assault, where you play online against thousands of others vying for a spot of glory. Can a Massively Multiplayer Online Racing Game really work?
