On June 21st next week at 9 p.m. PST/12 a.m. EST, Gamespot will be premiering the demo for Human Head Studio’s Prey. This demo harks to the old days of demos, where there’s real gameplay to experience so you can better make up your mind whether you’ll enjoy buying the full game or not. Rumor has it that the demo will contain an hour’s worth of gameplay. I’m certainly looking forward to play this demo, as I think the unique anti-gravity and other premises will add some much needed flair to a stagnating genre.

A demo for IO Interactive’s assassination action game, Hitman: Bloody Money, is available for download today. It features a single level in the game, and weighs in at a hefty 759MB. Grab it from 3D Gamers, VGPro, or 4players.de.
This demo contains the first mission of the game, Death of a Showman. As the world’s deadliest assassin, Agent 47, you have been offered a high-paying contract to take out Joseph Clarence aka The Swing King. Your client has asked that his recently deceased son’s picture be the last thing The Swing King sees before you end his life. Death of a Showman is the first level of the game and provides gamers a refresher course in the mechanics of being the world’s deadliest contract killer while tracking your target through a dilapidated theme park turned drug lab. Get a sneak peak at the incredible new graphic engine, ultra-realistic AI, and try out a few of Agent 47’s new moves.

Gibbage is “a two-player cartoon Deathmatch game unlike anything you’ve played before. Dodge, outwit, gun down and blow up your opponent in zombie-infested hospitals, atop speeding trains, inside alien beasts and more in your quest to crush your enemy and dominate each of the 27 unique maps.” It’s got that old school “flava” and we like it.

For those of you who are early adopters and bought the Ageia PhysX addon card, you’ll want to grab the newly available Cellfactor demo, which allows you to try out your new hardware in a game built from the ground up to showcase the PhysX chip. No word on whether or not those who don’t have the PhysX card can play this demo.
PhysX Owners can now get in on the action with the hot new hardware physics accelerated title: CellFactor: Combat Training from Artificial Studios and Immersion Games. All you need is a PhysX accelerator and a decent gaming rig, and you’re ready to get fragging. This demo is multiplayer-enabled and playable offline with customizable bots.

Not long ago, a Rise of Legends demo was released and it got some pretty negative attention. Now there’s a new demo that has all the latest code from the final release, so it should be less buggy and play better. Mirrors for the download can be found at FilePlanet, Microsoft, and WorthPlaying.

Firing up the demo that was released earlier today, I was deluged with introduction screens that, fortunately, can be skipped by pressing the mouse button. Other than the fact that my native widescreen resolution isn’t supported (1680×1050) out of the box, I’m glad to report that the developers, GRIN, has made the interface and options PC-friendly. Being that they developed the game from the ground-up for the PC, you won’t find any consolitis with the PC version of Ghost Recond: Advanced Warfighter.
Once I’ve outfitted my Ghost team, I found myself in a helicopter, barreling towards a hot zone amongst the urban sprawl of a dense city. Once landed, we proceeded towards our target, meeting heavy resistance along the way. I can say that the game feels visceral; the sound is superb, the graphics are above-average, and since feel is important in a FPS, it feels fluid. It didn’t take long for me to figure out all the controls after looking through the Options>Controls screen. GRIN has made the game easy to get into, even commanding your team is a breeze.
I’ve already played through the demo 3 times, and I keep wanting to go back through it. Due to the unpredicatable A.I. of both the enemy and your teammates, the variations in achieving an objective, different weapons and accessories you can use, and sheer fun factor, the game seems to have great replay value, and this is just the single-player portion of the game I’m playing. Multiplayer should be a whole other ball of wax.
One thing to note with this demo is that Ageia PhysX drivers were required to be installed in order to play this game. I found that quite odd, considering it said you had to have them installed even if you don’t have the hardware in your system. There’s no report of any early-adopters of the PhysX add-on card for this game, as of yet.
Update: The “Follow” command seems to be largely ignored by your teammates. Could be a bug. Other commands have unpredictable results, as well. After a fourth play through, one of my men jumped in the middle of fire, in the middle of the street, laid down, and got sniped. The more I play, the more I see flaws.
As expected, the Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter demo (532MB) for the PC is now available for download, allowing you to try out GRIN’s tactical first-person shooter. The demo includes two singleplayer levels and can be played across a LAN in coop mode. Here are some mirrors:

3DRealm’s Scott Miller stated in the company blog that we can expect to have a demo of their upcoming first-person shooter, Prey, before the games is available in stores.
Even watching the videos of the game in full glory will not convey to you why this game is truly something different, just as watch Tivo in action is not the same as finally owning it yourself, and coming to realize what a change it is.
That’s why we’re releasing a demo of Prey before the game comes out, and I feel very strongly that the demo will be our most important marketing tool for the game, by a long shot.
There’s a post on Ghostrecon.net indicating that a translated post on the French Ubisoft forum place a demo for Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter may be out sometimes this week. The translation as followed:
“Well, the demo is out next week! One of the folks that were at the fan’s day yesterday asked the question and one said for them that the demo is due out next week but no exact date was specified.”

As mentioned a couple of days ago, the classic game, Out of this World (also known as Another World), has been rereleased with new, higher resolution graphics, yet still has that excellent gameplay of old. FileShack has the shareware version, and the full version can be unlocked for $8.50. Michael Heilemann who works with IO Interactive on the Hitman series, has an article about this new rerelease and is very excited playing it.
