We’ve got the full Eve-Online: Trinity Expansion Trailer available here at Dungeonrun.com for your viewing pleasure.
If you haven’t seen the video yet, this is a must see whether or not you’re an active Eve-Online player. Heck, even if you have seen it already.. watch it again.
The Trinity Expansion will be a free upgrade for all current Eve-Online players, it’s scheduled for release on Dec. 5th, 2007.
Eve-Online isn’t for everybody as its a slightly different gamestyle than traditional MMO’s and has a steep learning curve, but if you’re interested after watching the video I’d highly recommend giving it a try.
You can download a 14-day trial here. Once in-game I would recommend seeking out a helpful player corporation to show you the ropes after you’ve completely the in-game tuturial and missions. This is an open ended game that allows you to do nearly anything you can imagine provided enough determination and skill training.
It’s official per the SEC filings, Perpetual Entertainment, the developers of the upcoming Star Trek Online MMO started liquidating assets the day after the cancellation of Gods and Heroes. All this was disclosed by their former investor Gravity, Korean developer of Ragnarok Online and online games distributor. Gravity had a 9 million dollar stake in Perpetual and has stated they do not expect to recieve any of their investment back at this time.
The terms of the liquidation haven’t been fully disclosed as of yet, however information from ShackNews points to a unnamed media company taking over with the intent to turn STO into a “casual friendly” title featuring one-time micro-transaction fee’s instead of a monthly subscription, a popular system for many “free to play” Korean MMO’s.
Surely, they’re basing this decision on the stellar success of all the quality Korean MMO’s ported stateside utilizing the same payment scheme?
To make it worse, the new media company looking to take over has zero experience in game development, and has never developed or released a single title before.
The anonymous source for ShackNews also claimed a number of Perpetual employees have already left the company over the dissatisfaction with the new direction of the games design.
While we await official confirmation by all accounts this news only seals the fate of the Star Trek Online title as dead on arrival for the hundreds of thousand of MMO gamers that had been skeptically awaiting its release.
Even Arnold Swartzenegger’s character knew going to Mars was a shitty idea, but apparently Avatar Reality Inc. backed by some of the biggest Execs in the gaming industry feel that the MMO market is just clamoring for a prettier version of Second Life.
They’ve also claimed the exclusive and coveted title of the first licensee of CryENGINE™2 for use in creating a MMVM (Massively Multiplayer Virtual World), although we’d figures there’s a few other MMO CryENGINE developers that’d probably dispute their PR wordplay.
If there’s a viable business model here we’re not seeing it. At least Sony’s HOME is a central virtual world within their PS3 community.

“Our goal is to create an online virtual world that will feature the highest-level of fun,

As of the 15th of November you can create a free Exteel Open Beta account. Just head on over to the NCSoft website and create a game account (NCSoft account too if you don’t have one), download the client and you’re set for some fast paced 3rd person John Woo style mech deathmatches.
Exteel will be “free to play” and will utilize NCSoft’s NCcoin micro-transaction system to allow players to purchase various items or upgrades.
Registration is quick and easy, given the lackluster holiday releases for MMO’s a little mech on mech action is just what the doc ordered.
This may bring back some memories for those that have also had the unique experience of meeting their guildmates in RL.
