Electronic Arts has proudly announced the 10th Anniversary of Ultima Online inviting new and past players to log in for a month packed with celebration and special events, plus fat loots.
On September 25, 1997, thousands of adventurers entered the world of Britannia for the first time. Many of them fell to the hazards of the wilderness, the perils of the dungeons, or even to the wiles of their fellows. But many of them found a home here - a home they have treasured for a decade.
The Fat Loots:
- 10 Decor Tokens
- 1 Wand of Fireworks
Or play for throughout the month to find other gifts and prizes such as a completed Virtue Armor set, commemorative items, notable weapons once owned by historical figures, and other useless crap to clutter up your in-game house.
As the DungeonRun Staff thinks back fondly remembering our times in Britannia hunting down and eliminating player killing scum, we soon realize that,
well it wasn’t all the fond, and well the last 8 years after the Second Age update splitting the game into Felucca and Trammel (If you never played UO, think SWG NGE Expansion) just utterly ruined the game we all knew and loved. So perhaps while EA rings in the year with their red headed stepchild of a MMO that’s been kept locked up in the basement all this time, we’ll try to remember the good years of 97-98 as we ask the eternal question of when they’ll finally put UO out to pasture and turn out the lights.
Is it bad to be bitter after 10 years about a company changing their MMO in mid-stride and ruining the best sandbox style MMORPG ever made? I guess if we ever need that question answered there’s always the ex-SWG NGE players that are probably more than happy to speak their mind on the subject.

In one of the highest dollar MMORPG auctions seen, one of the best geared rogues in WoW worldwide was sold for 7,000 Euro (Approximately $9,700.00 US Dollars).
The character was a Night Elf Rogue named Zeuzo from the guild Method on Syvanas (EU), and was only one of two people in the world that wielded both of the legendary Illidan Stormrage swords. He also had 4 out of 5 parts of the Tier 6 armor set along with numerous other drops from Mount Hyjal and the Black Temple.
The new owner which appeared to have been inactive until the purchase went by the name Shaks and had performed a server transfer on the newly purchased character to the Kazzak (EU) realm.
In what’s a new high for character sales since the peak of Everquest, is now a new low for gaming geeks everywhere…
Update: Due to the publicity and recent rumors its been speculated that Blizzard has since banned the offending account in accordance their stated policy. Better hope for that money back guarantee Shaks!

This is a definate “WTF Second Life” moment as HBO has announced it bought the rights to film a seven episode documentary shot entirely in Second Life.
NEW YORK (Reuters) - HBO said on Tuesday it has acquired the rights to a short-form documentary shot entirely within Second Life, as entertainment companies increasingly turn to virtual worlds as a source for new content.
“My Second Life: The video diaries of Molotov Alta” purports to tell the story of a man who “disappeared from his California home” and began issuing video dispatches from Second Life. The popular virtual world, which has its own currency and a growing economy, has drawn millions of users who create alter egos called avatars and interact with people from around the world.
Game of the day, leave a comment naming one of the Second Life subcultures to be documented! Fun for the whole family!
