A rather interesting article, however I had to stop and re-read alot of it. Spelling mistakes (game instead of came, spoilt instead of spoiled) and grammar just kills it. I gather that the poster is from the UK, so maybe it is just a language difference. I am not english professor, but when the average reader has to stop and re-read things, it turns them off from the remaining story.

Back on topic, I believe that when you can have everything you want, it just isn't the same as working hard and earning it yourself. On the other hard, it is really disappointing to work hard for something to only find out that it sucks. We all know that game demos are nearing the end of life. Many companies don't release a demo at all anymore, or do so after the full game is released.

Good thread, sans the typos and such. Thanks, I am sure alot of gamers can relate to this thread.

Typos and grammar are my fault, I meant to check the editorial before I posted it up, but got sidetracked and forgot about it. Yes, Dan ($kunk in the forums) is from the U.K., so that had something to do with it.

Not sure how you managed to post this comment, as I was working on the comments when you posted it. Must've looked messed upf or you.

Glad you liked it MX. Yeh - looks like I let a couple of errors slip through there. Not really Matt's fault as I should also check it more thoroughly before I send it on.

Interesting you bring up the point of grammar though, maybe this is a trans-Atlantic thing? Feedback on any points specifically (via email rather than clogging up the comments) would be appreciated so I can try to adapt my style. I imagine the majority of readers will be from the US so it makes sense to cater to the masses.

Glad you took my critisim well :) Didn't mean to ruin your flow... it was an execellent post. However, no one should ever think they must 'cater to the masses'. In fact I enjoy learning different ways to convey the same idea.

I would like to note, that I really appreciate your honesty on the whole piracy issue. I have to wonder, however, did you ever try to cover it up? Tell people you were against it, etc?

Well, you've really turned into a woman, Dan. So now it's all about the foreplay of taking a disk out of its discjewel? Migod........

J/k, that was a good article, very well articulated, and I understand exactly what you mean.

Bitch :p

MX – Constructive criticism is always welcome mate, it’ll ultimately make me a better writer :)

Did I ever cover up my piracy? Hmm… tricky question. I don’t think I ever pretended I was dead-set against it (of course this is where someone finds a post proving otherwise!), though I did kid myself into thinking I would buy a game if I liked it after ‘trialling’ it. On the other hand, I didn’t advertise the fact that I rarely bought games either so I suppose even in that action there is a bit of concealment going on.
